Eleisha Eagle Performs Free, Unofficial Show During SXSW
by Jordan JeffusDate: March 3, 2009
Eleisha Eagle, who is classically trained in piano but went to college to study graphic design, left college at the age of nineteen and moved to Nashville, TN, to pursue her music career. Eagle spent her free time in production studios learning how to record her own music. Soon after, she founded a record label and financed “Private School,” the first of three self-released albums.
She then moved to Los Angeles where she booked her own solo tour and later recorded an EP, “Eleisha Eagle” and “Lamplighter,” her most ambitious album to date. Following critical acclaim for both, Eleisha embarked on a national eighty-city tour to standing room only crowds.
Eleisha’s distinct vocals, unique arrangements and substantial songwriting have already made an indelible impression on other noteworthy musicians in Austin. After a recent sold-out showcase full of Austin’s musical elite, Joe Ely, perhaps one of his generations most respected songwriters and riveting live performers, summed up the general consensus of those in attendance by saying, “It’s genius. Real, pure genius.”
Come watch Eleisha Eagle Saturday, March 21st at The Cactus Cafe on UT Campus at 11p.m.
