THE NORMANS CD-RELEASE PARTY AT EMO’S, JULY 14th, 2007
Special guests The Rite Flyers, The Alice Rose and The Sad Accordions join.

Austin, TX – July 14th, 2007 - The Normans, following the success of their debut album Dreams of Autocrashes, will release their new CD, Stereo Savant, at a live show at Emo’s (603 Red River) on Saturday, July 14th at 11:30pm. They will be joined by special musical guests The Rite Flyers (12:30pm), The Alice Rose (10:30pm) and The Sad Accordions (9:30pm).

Stereo Savant, produced and engineered by Erik Wofford (The Octopus Project, Okkervil River, My Morning Jacket), puts forth a dynamic blend of garage noise, atmospheric pedal steel guitar and pop harmonies, interwoven with the string textures of the Tosca String Quartet (David Byrne, Sufjan Stevens).

The Normans were formed in 2003 by guitarist Corey Butler (God Drives a Galaxy) and Brent Baldwin (best known around town as the conductor of Golden Hornet project symphonies and Stephen Barber's Barbwire Music Project). The tunes are poppy, but The Normans are not a simple three-chord-and-chorus rock band. Baldwin and Butler orchestrate intricate layers of sound and space. Bassist Byrne Rock and drummer Nina Singh lay down a rhythmic pulse in the tradition of T-Rex. The resulting blend of textures has earned The Normans favorable comparisons to Yo La Tengo, Frank Black, Elliott Smith and the Kinks.

Stereo Savant, a self-released EP, will be available at the July 14th show at Emo’s. It will also be available at Waterloo Records, End of an Ear and on-line at http://cdbaby.com/cd/normans2.
